Today marks the twenty-second anniversary of the death of Ahmad Rahi, a celebrated poet and writer.
Born in Amritsar in 1923, Rahi gained fame for his compelling film poetry. He wrote songs for over a hundred movies.
His work on the film Heer Ranjha was particularly acclaimed and earned him national recognition.
Rahi’s poetry collection Taranjan received the prestigious Adamji Award.
In recognition of his significant contributions to art and literature, the Government of Pakistan honored him with the Pride of Performance award.
Ahmad Rahi passed away in Lahore on this day in 2002.
