Frederick Livingston believes poetry has the power to heal. The ecologist, educator, and author will discuss writing and nature in a talk at the Hoffman Center for the Arts on Sunday at 4 p.m. He will read from his latest book, Trees are Bridges to the Sky.
Livingston is also known for his poetry collection, The Moon and Other Fruits, along with contributions to scientific journals and literary magazines. In addition to his writing, he is involved in ecological restoration projects throughout the American West. His educational work has taken him around the globe, including time with the Peace Corps in Tanzania and at the United Nations University for Peace in Costa Rica.
The event at the Hoffman Center will feature readings from other local poets as well. Admission is $7, and while pre-registration is encouraged on the Hoffman Center’s website, walk-ins are welcome.
