by Amy
Land and Sea

Vetta Chamber Music will present Seasons of the Sea on November 16th at 7:30 p.m. at West Vancouver United Church. The performance will feature the words of Indigenous artist and storyteller Rosemary Georgeson.

This mixed program will explore the deep connections between the Land and the Sea, as well as the music and stories they inspire. The first half of the concert will showcase chamber works reflecting the land, with pieces by Sibelius, Bloch, and Carmen Braden’s The Raven Conspiracy from Yellowknife.

The second half will feature Seasons of the Sea, a collaborative work that combines Georgeson’s storytelling and music by Jeffrey Ryan. This cross-cultural piece weaves together powerful stories and music about life on and around the sea.

The program includes:

  • Ernest Bloch: Paysages, B.62 for string quartet
  • Carmen Braden: The Raven Conspiracy
  • Jean Sibelius: Impromptu for Strings
  • Jeffrey Ryan & Rosemary Georgeson: Seasons of the Sea

Performers include:

  • Rosemary Georgeson, storyteller
  • Joan Blackman, violin soloist
  • The Vetta Chamber Music Players Mentorship Orchestra

Following the performance, a post-concert Talking Circle will be held.
