At a time when artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping the creative landscape, author and journalist Ravi Shankar Etteth has successfully merged human artistry with technology in his latest book, Rhapsody Road. The book, published by Om Books International, was officially launched at The Park in Delhi, where Etteth discussed his unique approach to poetry and how AI played a role in shaping his work.
A Journey of Serendipity
Etteth, a consulting editor at The Sunday Magazine, The New Indian Express, described his writing career as a series of unexpected turns. “Everything that I have done in my life, I have done purely by accident,” he said. His journey began as an editorial cartoonist for The Indian Express at just 20 years old, and he later held key roles at Observer Media Group, India Today, and The New Indian Express. His six novels, he noted, were also the result of chance rather than a planned literary path. “This book (Rhapsody Road) is also an accident and not a deliberate one. Nothing in my life is deliberate until I start doing it,” he remarked.
A Book Without Boundaries
Unlike conventional poetry collections that follow a central theme, Rhapsody Road is a collection of diverse poetic reflections. Etteth compares it to a journey, where readers encounter different moments along the way. “While on a journey, we all take a road and look at different things. We notice a man on a motorcycle, a woman in a car, or people kissing each other. That goes for the book too. It carries different poems without a guiding concept. However, it does have that one road leading to all journeys,” he explained.
By integrating AI into his creative process, Etteth has embraced modern technology while staying true to the essence of poetry. His work reflects a seamless blend of human expression and digital innovation, proving that art and technology are not opposing forces but complementary elements of creativity.
