HYDERABAD — Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai, a prominent poet known for his progressive views, was the focus of a recent literary session hosted by Bazm-e-Rooh Rihan. Held in connection with the annual Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai, the event took place on Sunday and featured discussions on Bhitai’s legacy.
At the session, leading scholars, poets, and intellectuals highlighted Bhitai’s opposition to slavery and his advocacy for the role of women and societal welfare. Eminent writer and social reformer Ghulam Mustafa Abbasi, who presided over the event, described Bhitai as a universal poet whose messages of patriotism remain relevant today. Abbasi urged the younger generation to embrace Bhitai’s thoughts and poetry.
Ruk Sindhi, a writer, researcher, and journalist, emphasized that Shah Latif’s poetry guides characters towards salvation, reflecting his deep concern for societal progress. Secretary General of Bazm-e-Rooh Rihan, Wahid Kandhari, noted that Shah Latif’s work advocates for freedom and liberation for oppressed people, including those in Sindh.
Narrator Saleem Chana praised Bhitai for his truthful and artistic expressions. The session also featured poetry recitations by Tarab Ali Tarab and Jaman Ansari Shah. Ali Hasnain also participated in the literary discussions.
