Warangal: The handloom industry represents a significant part of human history, symbolizing the development of civilization, said Governor Jishnu Dev Varma during his visit to the handloom stall at the Jangaon Collectorate on Thursday. The Governor expressed his admiration for Jangaon district, a region known for producing renowned poets, writers, and other distinguished figures.

“Poets and politicians have the power to bring about societal change,” Governor Varma stated. “When they work together, the impact of their writings and policies can significantly influence the people.”

During his visit, the Governor also praised the Telangana Diagnostic Hubs, which offer free laboratory services, calling them a “boon for the poor.” He emphasized the need for the government to appoint pathologists in all laboratories to ensure the effectiveness of these services.

Earlier in the day, Jangaon District Collector Rizwan Basha Sheikh provided the Governor with an overview of the district’s profile. He highlighted several of the district’s cultural and religious landmarks, including Somalingeshwara Swamy in Palakurthi, Bugulu Venkateshwara Swamy temple in Chilpur, Ramalayam at Valmidi, and St. Poet Bammera Pothana. He also mentioned Pembarthi, known as the best tourism village, which is famous for its brass and bronze handicrafts, home decor, figurines, and other artistic products.

Jangaon MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy described the region as a hub of various movements and emphasized the district’s strong youth presence despite its small size. Lok Sabha Member K Kavya and Station Ghanpur MLA K Srihari also addressed the gathering.

During his visit to Obulakeshavapur, the Governor noted that it was his first time visiting a village in Telangana. He acknowledged the potential of the Venkateshwara Swamy temple in the village to be developed as a tourist attraction. Governor Varma also commended his Principal Secretary, Burra Venkatesham, for his dedicated service to his native village, Obulakeshavapur.
