The Eastbourne Writers Group is holding its Annual Short Story and Poetry Competition this year, open to any theme. The top prize for the short story category is £60, while the poetry winner will receive £50.

Two theatre tickets for the Royal Hippodrome Theatre’s summer production A Night To Remember
Signed copies of Ellie Dean’s books Homecoming and A Place Called Home
A copy of Being a Writer, a book on creative writing donated by John Silverton
A bottle of Cava, also donated by John Silverton
A book titled How To Get Published and Make a Lot of Money, donated by Tony Flood
A writer’s notebook donated by Michael Fleming
Entries will be judged by attendees who are either full Anderida members or have attended at least one meeting this year. Each judge will receive a marking form to score entries from 1 to 10.
Actor Brian Capron, known for his role in Coronation Street, has read the entries in previous years but will be unavailable this Tuesday. Sue Thacker will read all 18 entries instead.
