Poet Kate Fox will perform at the site of the felled Sycamore Gap tree to mark the first anniversary of its removal. The event will take place at the tree stump near Hadrian’s Wall on Saturday, September 28, 2024.
Fox will read from her new book, On Sycamore Gap, which commemorates the tree and its legacy. The book serves as a tribute to the iconic silhouette that once stood at Sycamore Gap.
The collection reflects on the tree’s significance for those who sought refuge under its branches, enjoyed picnics nearby, or felt a profound sense of loss when it was no longer there.
Kate Fox, a Whitley Bay resident, is known for her work as a stand-up poet. In addition to her poetry, she has worked as a radio journalist, a newspaper columnist, and advocates for neurodiversity.
