Yogeshwar Singh, a young poet with a disability since birth, exemplifies resilience and creativity. His passion for poetry and positive outlook inspire many. In an exclusive interview with STATE TIMES, Yogeshwar shares his life story.
What inspired you to start writing poetry?
Yogeshwar explains, “Writing helps me express my feelings and experiences. During the lockdown, my friend Narinder Singh encouraged me to put my thoughts on paper.”
Can you share a couplet with our viewers?
He recites: “Har koi mera haal poochta hai, par janta nhi, har koi mujhe apna kehta hai par manta nhi, khuda se shikayat karun bhi to kya karun, jan insane he mujhe insane manta nhi.” Yogeshwar uses a wheelchair and has been writing poetry for years, focusing on his life and motivational themes. His talent has earned him a gold medal for his work.
How do you stay positive despite challenges?
“I focus on the good things in life. Every challenge teaches me something valuable,” he says.
Why do you want to be known for your work rather than receiving donations?
Yogeshwar believes, “I want my poetry to speak for itself. Earning recognition through my art is more fulfilling than relying on charity.”
How does your friend Narinder support you?
“Narinder is my rock. He encourages me and helps me navigate my challenges,” he adds.
What message do you convey through your poetry?
