Renowned poet Prem Prakash launched his poetry collection, Ragatko Tarpan, at a ceremony attended by prominent literary figures in the capital on Monday.
The book was unveiled by Chancellor of Nepal Academy, Bhupal Rai, along with cultural activist Bhim Kumakhi, and poets Keshav Silwal and Bimala Tumkhewa.
Chancellor Rai praised Prem Prakash as a courageous and influential poet from Rolpa. He stated, “Prem Prakash has created a complete collection of poetry by combining the skeleton of ideas with the muscles of art.”
Poet Silwal highlighted the depth of Prem Prakash’s work, noting its insightful analysis of the internal conflicts within Nepali society. “He writes for the common people who have dedicated their lives to the cause of change,” Silwal remarked.
Kumakhi, the president of Jana Sanskritik Mahasangh, commended Prakash’s poetry for addressing various injustices and advocating for a prosperous society through critical awareness. “As a progressive poet, he has continually called for change and significantly contributed to the nation’s progress,” Kumakhi added.
Tumkhewa emphasized the successful balance of art and ideas in Prakash’s poetry, stating, “Among contemporary poets, he has established a distinct identity for himself.”
The event, organized by the Rolpa-Kathmandu Art and Literature Society, also included poetry recitations from Ragatko Tarpan by Asmita KC, Alisha Eklas, Geelu Ratos, Chham Gurung, Nabin Sharma, Nusha Lingden, and Prajwal Adhikari.
The collection is divided into three sections: Mato Mathi Kehi Adhikar, Jibansanga Jahile Pani, and Bhavharuko Bhavya Bhagnaawasesh, featuring a total of 42 poems. Notable works include Aago Lina Gaekaaharu, Ulto Yatra, Ragatko Tarpan, Bichar Jaruri Chha, and Andolanma Aksharharu.
Published by BN Pustak Sansar, Ragatko Tarpan is the latest in a series of works by Prakash, who has previously released several poetry books, ghazals, travelogues, and music albums.
