The Indian Army is hosting a Pahari Kavi Sammelan (Poetry Symposium) at the Pahari Cultural Club in Karnha today. This event celebrates literature by bringing together poets from Pahari and Gujjari backgrounds. It offers a platform for them to share their work, connect with others, and appreciate the region’s rich cultural heritage.
In an interview, Abdul Rasheed Qureshi, a retired teacher, poet, and writer, highlighted the importance of the event. He noted that it allows both emerging and established poets to perform live readings of their poetry, qawwalis, and couplets in Pahari and Gujjari languages.
Attendees can expect performances from renowned regional poets. These performances will explore various poetic expressions, from traditional verses to musical renditions. Themes will include nature, identity, and social harmony, providing insights into the regional ethos.
The Kavi Sammelan aims to foster a strong sense of community among poets and poetry lovers. It seeks to nurture creativity and self-expression within a culturally vibrant environment.
